“The Glass Castle,” is a memoir about a girl that traveled with her impulsive parents throughout her traumatic, yet intriguing childhood. She later became a well known journalist in New York. The original jacket design for this book was type driven, and gave its readers minimal information about the dramatic story. The theme of intangibility was omnipresent in Wall’s biography and includes recurring stories of fire and burning to start anew. This jacket embodies the story inside, and incorporates my own photography and type handling to give the viewer a glimpse of how the story will unfold.
